Reza Satchu

Reza Satchu is an East African-born serial entrepreneur and investor. He is the founder and managing partner of Alignvest Management Corporation, a senior lecturer at Harvard Business School, and a director of Trilogy International Partners. He graduated from Harvard Business School with a Masters of Business Administration in 1996. In Toronto, he began his career as a financial analyst for Merrill Lynch, where he focused on structuring and executing high yield debt offerings. In 1998, he became a General Partner of Fenway Partners, a private equity firm with more than $1.5 billion in assets.

In 1991, Reza graduated from McGill University. After graduation, he called a Canadian who was working at Merrill Lynch in New York. He told him that he could get a job with him. He lied about his work visa status and drove overnight to New York to meet him. After meeting with Stan O’Neal, he landed a job in Merrill Lynch’s High Yield Group under the guidance of his mentor, Stan O’Neal. O’Neal would go on to become the CEO of Merrill Lynch and lead the company’s subprime mortgage crisis.

After completing his MBA, Reza Satchu’s career has been a successful one. Currently, he is a Senior Lecturer at Harvard Business School’s Entrepreneurship Management Unit, where he teaches courses such as Launching Technology Ventures and The Entrepreneurial Manager. He is also the founder and Managing Partner of Alignvest Management Corporation, which is a major shareholder of Next Canada. The program helps young people become entrepreneurs, and it also provides start-up funding for companies.

A serial entrepreneur, Reza Satchu is the Founding Chairman of NEXT Canada. His mission is to inspire and mentor other entrepreneurs.
